Enjoying a Taste of Italy with Lingo Flamingo

Our residents at St Margaret’s Care Home in Edinburgh were transported to Italy, thanks to a lively and engaging language session led by Gia from Lingo Flamingo.
The session introduced residents to a selection of Italian phrases, sparking smiles, laughter and plenty of enthusiastic attempts at mastering those famously tricky rolling “r’s”. The room was filled with energy as everyone joined in, embracing the opportunity to learn something new in a fun and supportive environment.
By the end of the session, residents had confidently picked up a few words, molto bene!, and each participant received their own learning book, allowing them to continue practising and proudly show off their new skills.

Home Manager Kate Martin praised the initiative, highlighting the wider benefits of lifelong learning: “It was wonderful to see our residents so engaged and full of joy during Gia’s visit. Experiences like this show that learning doesn’t stop at any age - in fact, it becomes even more valuable. Trying something new helps boost confidence, encourages social connection and keeps minds active. The smiles and laughter in the room said it all, it was a truly special session.”
This event, organised as part of our engaging activities programme, proved to be a fantastic success, bringing joy, connection, and a sense of achievement to everyone involved. We're already looking forward to welcoming Gia back for another exciting language adventure in the near future.
